Breville's Joule countertop oven: 13 presets, 1,800 watts, and a different price in Canada

A countertop oven is not an air-fryer basket, even when it has an air-fry mode. Breville's Joule Oven Air Fryer Pro, code BOV950, is a counter oven with heating elements, racks, and presets, some of them on the machine and some of them in an app. The figures here are from Breville pages checked on 20 October 2026. We did not bake in this oven. The price is not one figure: the US page lists 499.95 dollars, and the Canadian page lists 799.99 Canadian dollars. Both pages were opened on the same day. There is no Israeli price here, and no conversion into shekels.
What sits on the machine, and what is only in the app
On the oven's US home page Breville lists 13 functions: toast, bagel, bake, air fry, broil, roast, pizza, cookies, proof, reheat, slow cook, keep warm and dehydrate. On the US product page there is a further sentence: 13 presets on the oven itself, and three more that exist only in the app, bottom bake, bottom broil and outer broil. Together Breville calls that 16 functions. We did not count recipes in the app, so 16 is the number of presets the page counts, not the size of a library.
That product page describes Element iQ: six independent quartz elements, PID temperature control, and an algorithm that steers power. That is the maker's language. We did not measure how even the heat is. Autopilot, according to the page, moves a recipe through several cooking stages after you press start. Breville+ is described there as guided recipes, classes and notifications. The oven's home page says there are 400 recipes and more, tested for this oven. That is Breville's number, not our count.
On that home page: 120 volts, 1,800 watts, a two-year limited warranty. The capacity Breville publishes there: a 9-slice toast, a 13-inch pizza, a 9-by-13-inch pan, a 12-cup muffin tray, and a 14-pound turkey. Those are the maker's ceilings for the pan and the rack, not a promise that every turkey comes out the same. The accessories that appear on both the product page and the home page: a 13-inch nonstick pizza pan, two reversible wire racks with eight height positions, a 9-by-13 broiling rack, a 9-by-13 enamel pan, and an air-fry and dehydrate basket. The material: brushed stainless steel.
The dimensions and the price are not the same in the United States and Canada
On the US page the dimensions are 21.4 inches wide, 17.3 deep, 12.7 high, and the price is 499.95 dollars. On the Canadian page the price is 799.99 Canadian dollars, and the dimensions are 55 by 44 by 33 centimetres, and also 21.5 by 17.3 by 12.8 inches. The centimetres and the inches on the Canadian page are not the same as the inches on the US page. We did not round one of them so they would match. Anyone measuring a shelf needs the measurement from the shop they are buying from, not an average.
499.95 US dollars and 799.99 Canadian dollars are different currencies. We did not calculate an exchange rate. Both were what the opened pages showed on 20 October 2026, and they can move. A sale, tax, or another retailer's price was not checked.
In the US manual for the BOV950 120 volts, 60 hertz and 1,800 watts appear again. Ranges that are not in the marketing headline are there too. Air fry: 300 to 480 degrees Fahrenheit, up to one hour, default 400 degrees and 18 minutes, Super Convection, suggested rack 3, and there is a preheat. Bake: 120 to 480 degrees, up to 72 hours. Proof: 80 to 100 degrees, up to 24 hours. Slow cook: high from 2 to 12 hours, low from 4 to 72 hours, then keep warm for 2 hours. Those are rows from the manual, not a recipe. A home recipe that falls outside the range will not fit the mode, even if the built-in oven would have accepted it.
The home page describes a connection to the app, notifications, and voice control with Google Assistant and with Alexa. The example sentence there is "Hey Google, set the oven to bake." We did not test an account, and we did not test which radio band is required, because the pages we read did not list a band. Before connecting, it is worth reading what actually needs Wi-Fi.
What to check on the counter before you order
Depth is the number that falls between the cushion and the shelf. 17.3 inches on the US page are about the length of a large pan plus room for the cord behind. If the shelf is shorter than that, the door will not open fully, and the rack will not come out. The height of 12.7 or 12.8 inches, depending on the page, has to stay under a cabinet without touching it. We did not calculate a ventilation gap, because the manual passage we quoted did not give a required clearance in centimetres. Anyone who closes the oven into a cupboard needs the full manual, not the dimension line alone.
Reversible racks with eight heights mean the recipe has to say which height, not only "in the oven." In the manual, air fry sits on rack 3, bake and roast on 6, pizza on 7, cookies on 5, slow cook on 8. Those are Breville's suggestions, not a law. If your recipe says a middle tray, that has to be translated into a height from the list, and the height written into the saved copy. Without that, "middle" becomes a guess every time.
1,800 watts on 120 volts are a load similar to a large electric cooker. We did not test whether an Israeli kitchen circuit, after a transformer, stays inside what the breaker can take. That is a reason to stop at a local shop that sells a model at the local voltage, if one exists, and not to order the US box because the dollar price looks lower than 799.99 Canadian dollars. Those two prices do not say what happens after customs.
A two-year warranty on the US home page is not the same document as a one-year warranty at Ninja or at Instant Pot. We did not compare the small print. We compared only the number each page chooses to put next to the model name.
Who this oven is for, and who should stay with a basket
Breville itself writes that the machine does the job of seven: a convection oven, an air fryer, a slow cooker, a dehydrator, a toaster, a broiler and a pizza oven. That is a marketing description of scope, not a test against seven machines. What you can check without a test is the volume: a 13-inch pizza and a 14-pound turkey do not fit in a small countertop fryer basket. Someone whose cooking is mostly two small portions side by side, with two times, will find that split on the Ninja FlexBasket, not in this oven. Someone who needs proofing, toast, or a 9-by-13 pan is on Breville's side of the counter.
120 volts appear in both the manual and the home page. As with Ninja, we did not find a 230-volt model here. A US box is not a recommendation to plug into an Israeli socket.
A recipe that was not written for this oven
Breville+ is Breville's library. A recipe you saved from somewhere else does not automatically become an Autopilot recipe. According to the KitchenAppes homepage, cooking mode keeps the screen on and shows one step at a time, and timers start directly from the step that needs them. Compare the temperature with the range in the manual before you press. If the recipe is in Fahrenheit and your habit is Celsius, converting the measurements is the step, not a guess. How not to invent "twenty percent less time" when an oven recipe moves to an air fryer is written separately, in an oven recipe in an air fryer.

Questions
Is 499.95 dollars the final price?
It is the price on the US page for the BOV950 on 20 October 2026. On the Canadian page, the same day, 799.99 Canadian dollars. There is no tax, shipping, or a third shop's price here.
Why do the dimensions not match?
The US page lists 21.4 by 17.3 by 12.7 inches. The Canadian page lists 21.5 by 17.3 by 12.8 inches, and also 55 by 44 by 33 centimetres. We did not correct either of them. Measure from the page of the country where you buy.
How many presets, 13 or 16?
13 on the machine, according to the settings list on the home page. Three more only in the app, according to the product page: bottom bake, bottom broil and outer broil. 16 is the sum Breville writes, not a separate count.
Do you preheat for air fry?
In the US manual, on the Air Fry row, the preheat column is marked yes. On the Ninja FlexBasket the FAQ says it is not needed. It depends on the model.
Does the oven talk to KitchenAppes?
Not according to the pages we read. Breville talks about Breville+, about notifications, and about a voice command. KitchenAppes keeps your recipe and shows one step. There is no claim here of a link between the two.
